Archibald Henderson (centre)

Arch Henderson, the engineering and architectural partnership providing multi-discipline services from concept to completion, is celebrating its centenary.

The company was formed in 1919 to offer specialist services in the design of harbour works, coastal protection schemes and ship repair facilities. This specialism in maritime civil engineering works continues but the firm has expanded to include architectural, civil, structural, and mechanical engineering and Principal Designer services for a wide range of industrial, energy and commercial sectors.

Arch Henderson was recently named in the New Civil Engineer 100 Power List for a second year running. The List recognises the most forward-thinking, innovative firms operating in civil engineering. It has also been shortlisted as one of the Trending 20, firms selected by New Civil Engineer’s expert editorial team as inspirational small companies.

Arch Henderson operates throughout the UK and abroad, with offices in Aberdeen, Dundee, Glasgow, Inverness, Lerwick, Southampton, Stromness and Thurso. It has seventy staff and a low staff turnover with the company retaining a vast amount of experience and knowledge, ensuring clients want to return on a regular basis.

The company places substantial emphasis upon quality, environmental, and health and safety management, and protecting the commercial interests of its clients which include Ports and Harbour Authorities, ship builders, major oil companies, offshore service companies, Local Authorities and NHS Trusts. Projects have been delivered throughout the UK; and further afield in Algeria, Qatar, Egypt, Ireland, Finland, the Falkland Islands and the Antarctic.
